The 39-year-old is revered in Rome but after a public show of discontent he's been dropped from the squad before Sunday's clash with Palermo
Francesco Totti's Roma career could be heading towards a sour end after he was sent home from the squad's Trigoria training base ahead of tonight's Serie A clash with Palermo.
Totti, the 39-year-old club captain, has made just five league appearances for the Giallorossi this season and has played only four minutes in the club's Champions League campaign - during the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.
His contract is set to expire in the summer, and speaking on Saturday the club icon let it be known that he was unhappy with his current situation - demanding more respect.
"I still feel like a player who is physically in good shape and I want to play," Totti declared, speaking to TG1 . "The injury is behind me now and if I don’t play it is purely down to a tactical decision.
Club president James Pallotta and the board are due to meet soon to discuss Totti's future, and whether he will be handed a new contract.
Totti has been a part of the Roma first-team squad since 1992, making 721 appearances and scoring 293 goals for the club.
