Today a scientific-practical conference on "Shaping family policy in the years of independence – traditions and perspectives” was held at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. APA reports that the event was organized jointly by the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs. In his opening speech, rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Urkhan Alekberov stated that Azerbaijan has walked a path of development in the last 25 years. 
 
Chairwoman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova noted that the UN declared May 15 as the International Family day in 1993: " Since 2008 "Family holiday”, representing the families of all districts, is being celebrated in Azerbaijan. The fact that hundreds and thousands of families celebrate diamond, gold, silver jubilees every year is a clear example of preservation and passing the Azerbaijani model of the family from generation to generation”. 
 
Bahar Muradova, Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly, said there exists laws in Azerbaijan that regulates familial affairs on the parliamentary and governmental level: "These laws help to preserve the family values. We have to protect the institution of family. We will overcome problems in this area through joint efforts of certain groups in society. At the same time, we should do our best to ensure the participation of Azerbaijani families in achieving successes for Azerbaijan”.  

In her speech, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova stressed that the institution of family is constantly being improved in Azerbaijan. 

Chairwoman of the Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs Agiya Nakhchivanli stated that the Azerbaijani family was fully provided with care from the state. 

Deputy Chairman of the National Television and Radio Council Sona Valiyeva said all necessary work should be done for development of the institution of family in Azerbaijan: "We should combine modernity with traditions and come to a conclusion. Today, research on the reasons behind the conflicts in the family is being carried out by irrelevant persons. Azerbaijani family should be protected based on the principles of Islamic beliefs, ideology of Azerbaijanism and democracy.
