Azerbaijan, Iran play stabilizing role in region: President of Azerbaijan

President Aliyev made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani in Tehran.
Azerbaijan and Iran support each other in international organizations and relations between the two countries have a bright future, according to the president.
The two countries have agreed to expand joint activities in the fight against international terrorism, he added.
"It became clear yesterday that the US and Russia have reached a deal on a ceasefire in Syria. We are very glad about the deal [ceasefire] which will lead to peace in Syria. The Syrian people should determine their future destiny,” Aliyev stressed.
President Aliyev urged countries to avoid interfering in their domestic affairs and respect each other. "If countries make progress in this direction and avoid interfering in their domestic affairs, the war in the region will end and there will be peace,” he said.
Azerbaijan’s head of state said a number of documents signed between the two countries on cooperation today will ensure the future development of bilateral relations.
The step taken today towards the opening of the North-South transport corridor is very effective, Aliyev said, assuring that by the end of this year, Azerbaijan will solve all tasks assigned to it and connect its railway will that of Iran.
The president said that there are very favorable conditions for mutual investments.
"Azerbaijan and Iran are carrying out serious economic reforms. The business climate is getting better. In these conditions, excellent opportunities arise in the mutual investment, finance, banking, insurance, tourism, and pharmaceutics sectors. In the region where we live, Iran and Azerbaijan play a stabilizing role. The further we unite, the higher level of security will be enjoyed,” President Aliyev concluded.
