Azerbaijan always focuses on strengthening the solidarity between young people from Islamic countries, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said in a letter addressed to the participants of the fourth OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers which is underway in Baku, APA reports.
In his letter the Azerbaijani president expressed his sincere greetings to the participants and wished each of them success in their work.
"As a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Azerbaijan has attached great importance to taking part in the activities of the organization since the early years of restoring its state independence, and considers this one of the main directions its foreign policy. The fact that the OIC member states support Azerbaijan’s fair position is always appreciated in our country,” the head of state said.
Azerbaijan, growing economic strength and political reputation, has hosted significant international events in recent years, President Aliyev stressed.

"The Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation was established on our initiative in Baku in 2004, and the forum’s first meeting was held here. Our country sees cooperation in the field of sports as one of the important factors of solidarity among our peoples and has taken important steps in this direction. We hosted the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017, which was declared as the ‘Year of Islamic Solidarity’ in Azerbaijan. I’m confident that this conference will hold extensive discussions on further strengthening of cooperation between the OIC member states in the field of youth and sports and will determine new ways of development for mutual relations,” President Aliyev said in his letter.
